frontside floaters?!?

I've read in an article that the key to successful frontside floaters is speed. The faster you go, the better. Because it will then be easier for you to do the next maneuver. I haven't tried this the last time i surfed, so I'm trying to read articles & research about this one so that I could practice it the next time i go out

Beach is where I find my self most of the time.

I say it's a surfing art that gives a surfer a better view of the waves. It also helps in charging the waves easier, so one can speed up faster.. And this is right, frontside floater is a great way to increase speed when performing your next maneuver, simply by staying in a high wave...

I would have to disagree with the premise that faster is always better. Suppose your cruising along, heading for the inside after successfully taking off and negotiating the bottom turn. You've trimmed up nicely and the lip is starting to spit a bit! A chance for a barrel ride. Many times you will have to "pet the cat," put your hand into the face of the wave to slow down and enter the tube. Faster is not always better as a tube ride is THE most desirable aspect of surfing, IMHO.

A bad day surfing is better than a good day working
