keep on practicing. definitely, u will get it and no doubt it will become something u're comfortable doing i've found myself falling in the water far too many times before. let your toes enjoy the breeze!! but i should say ur board is pretty long. i stick with the shorter ones.

one word: Balance! know where your center is! you should know your board, too. because if u already find it difficult to sit on your board, then you'll have more trouble catching waves and standing when surfing.

Lay down on your board, grab the rails & gently push up. Put your legs on both sides & don't let go of the rails. Just keep on trying & do it slowly until u get used to the method. Then let go when u think you've already gotten used to it.
And as soon as u sit up, helicopter your legs around, that will help to keep your balance!
Dont get discouraged easily. It won't be easy during the first few times & if there's a strong current. It'll also make use of a lot of different muscles.

Just find the sweet spot like when you ride. There's a particular spot for sitting, just like for riding. You'll find it.
