Is it normal for foam longboards to be so slippery? I could not even paddle nor stand properly. I'm nearly slipping all the time when im on the board's surface..

Oooh yeah, the exact same thing happened to me before. I've had one session on a foamy long board & another on a soft top & i found them both as the worst boards to stay & surf on!
It's still so much easier to use a proper board with wax!

I guess every beginner in surfing was told to get a surfboard with a minimal size that goes around 7ft or so. they are good to learn on. after all, once you've got the basics, you could try to move to a custom board if you want to. well, that's what i did!
but honestl, before, i think it was just the build up of sweat, fur, and grime on the soles of my feet that made me lose my grip now i use wax come at the bottom of my feet before i surf!

Hi rowl_n_surf,
have u ever tried waxing your board? i've waxed my foam board just recently & well... to my surprise, it has made my surfing very much easier. Why don't you give it a try too? It will give u more grip!
Goodluck!

Yup, sounds like a bit of wax or a traction pad would help you out.
