SWIMMING! dats d best alternative exercise for surfing. it could really help in ur paddling & could even help you in catching more waves. or if you cant swim, I suggest u do exercises to work out on your biceps, triceps, abs, & legs! so get 2 d gym if u can!

Do some squats and press ups! IN this way, you can enhance the strength of your legs for longer rides and will also help in ur shaping up, esp for for your legs! these are also excellent for improving the strength of your upper body and for your paddling while maintaining balance when u go back to surfing. & dont forget to take back extensions to strengthen ur back.

Agree with evenboard! it's swimming! because you get to have the same challenge in the water. not as challenging as surfing, but somehow, really close. It's like an alternate thing for surfing especially when you do it in the beach, but then if it's in the beach just go ahead get your surfing board and start surfing.

what you think?!?

That's a good question. Well, i've been doing this workout/exercises since i started with my surfing lessons years back. Then they may also work for you:

A. Swimming!
B. Active stretching.
C. Lift few weights.
D. Cardio conditioning.
E. Yoga.
F. Aerobic exercises.

All these are great ways to add up to your stamina & endurance. Goodluck!

i agree with surfmile, you should try those exercise routines in place of surfing... anyway, i'm just curious why aren't you able to go out to surf?

I suggest rock climbing in order for you to experience both worlds... ocean(surfing) and mountains(hiking)
