Hey guys im new to surfing i dont even own a board yet im taking a lesson soon in south padre but anyway i keep seeing about how long boards are the way to go .. but man they are exspensive  anyway way i found a topic

The Summer Fish

The Summer fish represents a shortboard version of the retro fish. It is slightly thicker and wider that your tradtional shortboard. This helps get thru the flat spots on the slow days. The swallow tail help loosen up the board. If your not really sure about a performance shortboard this might be the right board for you. The added thickness make it a great choice for smaller mushy waves.

  • Beginners: Recommended for beginners with experience in other board sports (skating/snowboarding)
And i have skateboarded for about 3 years... so i was wondering is this ok to start off wtih or should i still spend the 500 plus for a long board?

i suggest you try all sorts of surf board first before you you buy your own... they really are expensive.. so if you're gonna spend some money for it, make sure you'll get the one you're comfortable riding on......

if you're still new to the sport, try as many surfboards as you can.... then buy the one that suits your techniques best...
