Hey all!

A friend and I are looking to take a vacation next July and want it to include some surfing. We a great swimmers but novice surfers. We are willing to consider anywhere that would be affordable and have a good range of waves for us.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Australia is home to some of the great waves on the planet, and some of the hottest surfers. If you are looking to take a trip somewhere and want plenty of coastline to choose from then Oz is the go! You have three choices - east, south or west. There is no surfing in the north mainly because of the stingers (jellyfish) and salt water crocodiles.

I don't think Australia is good surfing destination for month of July because weather of Australia in July  is characterized by the winter season. Winter in Australia  begins from the first week of June and ends at around the last week of August. The Australian winter  is generally cool and pleasant.

The winter weather in Australia generally experiences cool climatic conditions. The average winter temperature in Australia ranges from around 8°C (46°F) at night to 16°C (61°F) in the daytime. Winters in Australia are usually accompanied by Winter in Perth is generally a rainy season along with cool sunny days characterized by occasional storms, rainfall, lightning or thunder showers. Expect from 80mm to 131mm of rain in a month, with the most rain in June tapering into August.

You should better go to an tropical country like Indonesia

Bali is a really really great place for a surf trip. It has so many great waves, great weather and warm water temperatures.
