Planning a Surfing Trip
Just as you can’t get caught during winter without your favorite parka, you can’t let summer pass by without having gone Surfing even just once.
Probably the second must-have on any day at the beach next to bikinis, Surfboards are symbolic of the fun and excitement you can get by standing on your feet or lying on your stomach and letting the waves take you in for a ride.
Yes, you can enjoy Surfing just by packing your favorite swim suit and renting a board at the beach. But why not take the experience to a different level and plan your entire Surfing Trip accordingly? Here are a few reminders to get you prepped and pumped up before riding the waves.
- Stock up your Surfboard and Surfboard Wax. Think of it as your significant other when you go on a Surfing Trip; your entire trip is senseless without it and it has no purpose without you. You can bring your favorite board with you and it wouldn’t hurt for a spare board to tag along. You might need a different board for different waters and waves.
- Wear Surfing Clothes and use a board leash.
- Never underestimate the crowd. You should always consider the number of surfers; if the beach you’re going to is popular, it’s most likely that there will be a lot of surfers especially during peak season. What’s the point of having good waves if you can’t ride them? You also have to consider other water users in the beach. If possible, avoid surfing during the peak season.
- Prepare your repair kit. You’ll never know when you need some quick fix. If you’re going to a crowded place with a lot of Surfing shops where you can get basic repair tools, then you have nothing to worry about. But just to be sure, pack your own kit with you. You might have spontaneity attacks during the trip and head for another beach; it’s best that you have your own stash.
- Find old (and new) friends. While Surfing is of course an individual water sport, there’s nothing better than riding the waves with your good ol’ buddy. Others prefer going on Surfing Trips alone and make Surfing buddies in the beach. Either way, it’s best to have someone provide you with good Surfing company and a little healthy competition.
When you’ve got these covered, you’ve got nothing to worry about surfing but putting on sunscreen.
