South African surfer Jordy Smith is now part of O'Neill team after signing to the company. Smith is leading the ASP World Qualifying Series ratings with an all-time points record of more than 14,000. Last year, Smith won in several competitions around the world, thus guaranteed himself a spot on next year's ASP World Tour.
At an early age, Smith is already considered one of the best surfers in the world; and at the age of 19, he is the reigning ASP Junior World Champion. In 2006 at Jeffrey’s Bay, he finished third and led the Boost Mobile Pro which started last month. These made him one of the most anticipated contenders joining the ASP World Tour in over 15 years.
