International Surfing Day Gets Challenging

WEDNESDAY, 18 JUNE 2008

Grab your surfboards and get creative. The Surfrider Foundation and SURFING Magazine unveiled the International Surfing Day (ISD) "challenges" that will take place on Friday, June 20.

The ISD "challenges" will allow the public to compete for prizes in a wide spectrum of activities ranging from beach cleanups to filmmaking, to art and surf contests. "Challenges" and prizes are sponsored this year by Electric, Ocean Minded, Matix, DVS, O'Neill, Reef, Sector Nine, Globe, Vans, Volcom, Simple, Body Glove, Patagonia, Oakley, Billabong, and Quiksilver.

"We are really excited to be adding the challenge aspect to International Surfing Day," says Laura Mazzarella, Marketing Manager for the Surfrider Foundation. "This is a great way for people to get involved, give back, have fun, and hopefully win some cool prizes."

Established four years ago by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine, International Surfing Day is the one day a year where surfers from around the globe come together to celebrate the sport of surfing and pitch in to give back to our world's oceans, waves, and beaches.
