Summer Surf Films at Surfing Heritage Foundation

WEDNESDAY, 25 JUNE 2008

The Surfing Heritage Foundation will be hosting their outdoor Summer Surf Film Series 2008 presented by Rainbow Sandals. The screenings will be held at the Foundation's cultural heritage facility located in San Clemente. All films featured in this year's series are either; World, U.S., or West Coast Premieres, with special guests on hand at each screening.

Friday, July 18th, the series opener is WATERMAN, directed by Sonny Miller, starring Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama, Gerry Lopez, Rob Machado, and the Malloy Brothers. This is the ultimate waterman journey through the Mentawais with all athletes testing their skills in and out of the water, while enjoying the spirit of surfing's lifestyle. Special Guests: Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama.

Saturday, August 16th is HIGHWATER, directed by Dana Brown, starring the who's who of surfing's world champions. This is Dana Brown's long awaited look at the people, contest, and community of Oahu's North Shore during surfing's biggest contest series, the Triple Crown of Surfing, in its 25th season. See the high drama, hot action, and insightful stories of the men and women who compete in the most challenging waves against the best in the world. Special Guests: Dana and Wes Brown.

Saturday, September 13th, ONE TRACK MIND directed by Chris Malloy sharing how a champion is focused with a one-track mind on being the best of the best starting at a young age. The film will feature 14-year old Kolohe Andino and his hopeful road to becoming one of the world's next top surfers. The film chronicles the making of great young surfers in the Mentawais by looking at the current top surfers and the upstarts who are looking to take their place. Special Guests: TBA

Show time is 8 p.m. and doors open to the general public at 7 p.m. General admission is $10. VIP tickets - include early admission, appetizers, drinks, and premiere seating are $50. Proceeds from the Summer Surf Film Series 2008 support the Surfing Heritage Foundation's ongoing mission of preserving surf culture for the education and appreciation of current and future generations.
